Setting the bar high...

The first part of my cookie journey is research. Research includes researching laws, policies, permits, licenses as well as recipes. The first part should be easy enough, but the second part is the most fun.

I want to bake at least 3 times a week. Funds may not allow me to do more (bakin ain't free) but I'm going to do what I can. Today I had a crazy idea of instead of just plain old cookies, I want to make bars! But not just regular old bars, bars with caramel in the middle. Now I have never made cookie bars and I've never made caramel. But it seemed easy enough...you can decide yourself if it was easy enough.

Look like meat don't it?

This was my attempt at making cookie bars with a delicious caramel center. The first mistake was that i didn't have a small enough pan. Then i didn't have enough cookie dough for the top layer, the caramel was too thin blah, blah,  blah. They taste a lot better than they look.

Now yesterday I made these bad boys

Buttery, soft on the inside with a little crisp on the edges. Perfect amount of chocolate. Yum. They went like hotcakes. I think for now I will stick with the old fashion cookie. Maybe bars will come later. For the next trial (probs this weekend) I want to try some different flavors. Butterscotch you say?
